Letters From Mrs. Adams
September 5, 2008
Dear Parents,
It is time for my first parent letter of the year. We have one week of school under us and it already seems to be going by fast. It always seems like there are more things to do than time in the day. Here is a brief overview of what we are and will be doing.
In Math, our first chapter deals with place value. Throughout chapter one, we will be learning about place values, rounding and comparing numbers, fractions, and decimals. Please make sure to practice addition and subtraction facts at home, we need work on our basic math facts.
In Religion, we are in charge of Mass on the 9th. Masses will be at 10:30. Mass will be at Church until the end of October. Feel free to join us in celebrating Mass. We also have been learning about the liturgical cycle and the different Catholic celebrations around the world.
In Reading, our first theme is Nature’s Fury. We will be learning about the different natural disasters around the world and the destruction that they can cause. We will start this theme next week, and our first story is Earthquake Terror.
In English we will be learning about what makes a great sentence. We will learn that we need proper capitalization and punctuation in a sentence as well as a subject and predicate. We also will learn about the four different types of sentences.
Things have been going well for our first week of class. I am enjoying getting to know each student better throughout the school year. I am looking forward to a wonderful year with such great students.
