Letters From Mrs. Adams

October 24, 2008

Dear Parents,

Wow, I cannot believe that it is almost the end of October and Halloween is almost here. Time sure does fly by. We also have been very busy here the last few weeks. Here is a review of what we have been doing and what is coming up.

In Math, we are working on multiplying whole numbers. In this chapter we have learned to multiply by both one and two digit numbers. We also learned about multiplication patterns, estimating products, and the properties of multiplication. We will be taking a math test next week. Please continue to work on math facts at home.

In Reading, we finished our first story in our new theme Give It All You've Got. For our first story we read Michelle Kwan:Heart of a Champion. In this story, we read about all the hard work Michelle put into being a world class skater. Our next story is La Bamba.

In English, we have been learning about nouns. We learned about common and proper nouns, singluar and plural nouns, and singluar and plural possessive nouns. We will also be taking an English test next week.

In Science, we just finished our first chapter which dealt with plans and their parts. We will continue to learn about plants and animals in the first unit.

In Religion, we have been learning about the Beatitudes and living our life how God would want us to. We also had the awesome opportunity to head up to the Cathedral to say the Rosary with 2,100 other students and we saw the Vatican Splendors at the History Center. Hopefully your child shared something about the trip with you.

On Halloween, we are heading to the Community Center as our reward for reaching our Marathon goal. It should be a fun afternoon filled with swimming/skating and playing in the gym. Students may be out of uniform that day. They may dress in Halloween themed clothes of warm-up outfits.

Thanks for signing up for conferences. It is always nice to meet to discuss your child. If there are ever any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me by phone or email.

Thanks again for all you do for your child.

Have a great weekend,

Sarah Adams
