Dear Kindergarten Parents:
Happy Friday everyone! The second week has been much easier for me – I hope it was for you as well. We’re all getting to know each other, and getting a handle on the new routines now, so it went much more smoothly. Here’s a peek at next week:
- Reading and Language Arts: We are still working on our letters! This week will be less focused on letters. Instead, we will spend more time reading stories. We will cover the letters Q-U. We will also begin to discuss our literacy work stations. This will be a time for students to do independent work, while small groups meet with me to work on reading. We will just be introducing some of the procedures next week.
- Math: We will sort by one and more than one attribute, discuss groups that have the same number, as well as groups that have more numbers than others.
- Religion: We will talk about how God’s gifts are everywhere, and begin to discuss that God created animals. We will also read about saints and learn about the rosary.
- Science: We will talk more about our eyes, and our ears later in the week.
Other Thoughts:
- I sent home book orders on Monday. If you are interested in purchasing any books, the orders are due on Monday.
- I want to remind everyone that library checkout is on Thursday. Please help your child remember to return their book so that they can check out a new one. I forgot to remind the students on Wednesday – I will do better next week!
- In the past, many classrooms at St. Anne’s have had a parent come in to teach art lessons. It’s a lot of fun for the students to have someone other than me teach them during the day! I know the art parent last year really enjoyed it as well! If anyone is interested, please let me know.
- Thank you for remembering to send your child to school with a jacket! It is always a little chilly during morning recess time.
- Earlier in the week, I told the students about an opportunity to design the button for Giant Celebration. A prize of $30 in Le Sueur Chamber Dollars will be awarded to the winner. It is due on January 5th. If your child is interested, please let me know and I can get you more information.
