Dear Kindergarten Parents:
Thank you all for a fun third week of school! We had an exciting week! We learned all about bus safety, studied cicadas, and discussed using our manners at lunch.
- Reading and Language Arts: This will be our final week of our first unit. We will practice writing letters V-Z. This unit was a quick introduction to all of the letters. When we begin our next unit, we will be studying the letters more closely, and learning about the sounds that they make.
- Math: We will finish our first chapter in math. Our “test” will be on Tuesday. It will be good to see what the students learned from our first chapter. On Wednesday, we will begin our new chapter, where we will focus on numbers 0-5. We will learn about how to write the numbers, as well as what they represent. We will be working with numbers 1-3 during this week.
- Religion: We will continue our discussion about how God created animals. We will also spend some time talking about saints. We will not be attending mass on Tuesday.
- Science: We will finish our discussion about our ears this week. We also spent some time today learning about cicadas. They seem to be EVERYWHERE on the playground, and the students are so interested in them! I thought it was the perfect opportunity. Ask your child what he or she learned about them!
Other Thoughts:
- Some of you have had some questions about Show and Tell. On your schedule, it says that we will have it on Fridays. That still stands, but we will hold off on it until sometime in October. I will send you a schedule when the time comes.
- Please remember to get pledges for the marathon. If this is your first child at St. Anne’s, and you have questions about how it works, please let me know!
- Just another reminder that our library checkout day is on Thursday. Please help your child remember to bring back his or her books!
Thanks again for all you do! Have a great weekend – maybe I will see you at Applefest!
Sincerely,
Miss May
