Dear Kindergarten Parents:
We made it through this very busy week! It was great, but I think we are all ready for a little break! Since next week is only two days long, I will update you for the weeks of October 13-14, and October 20-24.
- Reading and Language Arts: Since next week is a short week, we will not have enough time to devote to a letter. We will spend some time reviewing the letters and words that we have already learned. I would also like to spend some time introducing our literacy work stations. These stations will allow the students to work independently so that I can work with students in small groups on their reading. The small group reading will come later in the year, when we can read more, and the students are able to be semi-independent. The fallowing week, we will work on the letter R. Our Alphafriend will be Reggie Rooster. We will be reviewing the words I and see.
- Math: We will be talking about the positions top, middle, and bottom, as well as before and after. After that, we will talk about patterns – how to identify and create a pattern on paper, as well as how to create a pattern with sound or movement.
- Religion: We will use the Gospel Weekly article to talk about Sunday liturgy. We will be attending mass on Tuesday, October 14th and Tuesday, October 21st. We will also learn about how God’s love makes us special.
- Social Studies and Science: I am hoping to finish up our unit on the five senses, and then we will begin to devote more time to social studies.
Other Thoughts:
- I will not be sending home a weekly progress report on Tuesday, since it is such a short week and we have conferences.
- I just wanted to remind you to check out my website – it has a lot of useful tools on it! There are also links to fun and educational websites for kids!
