Dear Kindergarten Parents:
Happy Halloween! It’s time for an update. Here’s a peek at the week ahead:
- Reading and Language Arts: Continuing on with our unit about families, we will read more stories about different families and the people who might make up a family. Our letter this week will be B, and our Alphafriend will be Benny Bear. Look for his lyrics to come home on Tuesday. The new word that we will add to our word wall is like. Here are the words we currently have on our word wall: I, see, my, blue, black, brown, green, orange, pink, purple, red, white, and yellow. I don’t expect that the students will do a fantastic job with the color words yet - they are pretty difficult. The other words, however, they should be able to read by sight. You can always check out the work wall that I have posted on my website!
- Math: We will be continuing to work with numbers six through ten.
- Religion: We will be attending mass on Tuesday. We will finish our chapter on feelings, and will begin to discuss how God created our senses. We will finish the week with a Gospel Weekly article.
- Social Studies: We will be talking about the upcoming election. We will read the book, Duck for President, and have a vote of our own in our classroom. We will talk about how that relates to our own government.
- Please remember that there is no school for students on Monday. We will have a short week.
- Tom and Carmen Boelter, Rachelle’s parents, wanted me to let you know about the invitations for Rachelle’s birthday party that went home earlier in the week. Hopefully the invitations made it into the parents’ hands! If you have any questions, call them.
- Some of you may have been wondering why you have not seen many art projects coming home. We have been doing lots of them! We are working on a project for each letter, and at the end of the year, it is my hope to put them together into a book. We’ll do lots of seasonal art projects, as well as projects that apply to kindergarten art standards.
- Thank you to Jill Reinhardt for providing the pharmacy coloring books that went home!
- Please check out my website – it has a lot of useful tools on it! There are also links to fun and educational websites for kids!
