Dear St. Anne’s Family,

Welcome
Welcome to the 2009-10 school year. This fall will mark the 127th year that St. Anne’s has provided Catholic education for Le Sueur and the surrounding community!

Staff
We also want to welcome back the teachers and staff for the 2009-10 school year!
Kindergarten = Mrs. Kimberly Pettinelli
Grade 1 = Mrs. Wolf (A.M.) & Mrs. Grieves (P.M.)
Grade 2 = Ms. Justen
Grade 3 = Mrs. Segna (A.M.) & Ms. Justen, (P.M.)
Grade 4 = Mrs. Grieves (A.M)& Mrs. Adams (P.M.)
Grade 5 = Mrs. Adams.


Please note as stated in the spring that Kindergarten and grade 1 will be separate classes. Grades 2-5 will each have their own morning teacher for reading/language arts, technology and most core subjects but will be combined in the afternoon for music, phy.ed. and social/science. Mrs. Miller will be teaching music on Tuesday and Thursday and Mrs. Wavrin will be teaching P.E. on Monday’s, Wednesday’s and Friday’s.

Our support staff is:

Key Volunteers
Mrs. Mabel Schweiss will be our MARS (Math and Reading Students) coordinator. She coordinates the schedule for volunteers to assist students needing acceleration or help.

Mrs. Kathleen Blaha is our volunteer librarian. She helps the students check out books and does book presentations in the classrooms.

Mrs. Carol Iten is our altar server coordinator. She helps 4th and 5th grade students to become mass servers and assists them and Father at each school mass.

Back to School Conferences

Our Back to School Conferences will be on Tuesday afternoon, Sept. 1, Wednesday, September 2 and Thursday, Sept 4th. On Wednesday, Sept 2, the teachers will be working them in between various presentation times, early morning and late Wed. afternoon before the picnic and Thursday morning, Sept. 3rd. A schedule with available times will be posted outside the school office beginning Monday, August 17th. Please stop by at your convenience, sign up and pick up your back to school envelope. This envelope contains several forms that need to be filled out. Please return them to your child’s classroom teacher when you come for Back to School conferences.

Back to School Picnic
Our annual Back to School Picnic will be Wednesday, September 2, 6:00 P.M. at St. Anne’s School. Hot dogs, lemonade and tableware will be provided. Families A-M are asked to bring a dessert and families N-Z are asked to bring a salad. There will be a bus ride for new students and their families at approximately 6:40 while other students may have a playground/game time.

Patrons
The Patrons will have their first meeting also on the Back to School Night @ 7:00 in the school library following the school picnic. This group is St. Anne’s fund-raising group. Members of the Patrons Board are:
President - Tom Svihel
Treasurer - Melissa Schwartz
Secretary - Kim Froelich
Members - Pam Schwartz, Angie Wilmes, Scott Tiede, Joan Skelly, Mary Preuhs, Marlana McDonald and Anya Asheim.

At the meeting we will be deciding on project dates, making project assignments and plans for the annual school marathon.

School Advisory Group
Our school advisory group had their first meeting for the 2008-09 on Tuesday, August 4. Members of this group are:
President - Tom Rabaey
Vice - Al Schwartz
Secretary - Jill Reinhard
Members – Roger and Lorie Streeter, Julie Trimbo and Theresa Kelly.

This group usually meets on the first Tuesday of the month.

Lunch
Please note that the forms for free and reduced lunch are enclosed. This year lunch prices are the same as last year: $2.50 for students, $.50 for milk and $3.50 for adults.

If your child does not take milk they will need to bring their own beverage and if your child is lactose intolerant you will need to fill out a form that can be obtained from Mrs. Stockwell.

Activities Fee
Each family is asked to pay $20/student for children in grades 1-5 and $25 for kindergarten students. This fee is used for either Time or Weekly Reader, (classroom teacher’s discretion) for special class activities and for a birthday gift for their teacher and support staff. Please make a separate check out to Patrons and give to Mrs. Rasmusen in the school office.

Playground Noontime Supervision
We appreciate parents helping us with noon time supervision. If possible, we would appreciate you signing up for seven times or more of supervision. Our playground noon supervision times will run approximately 11:10 to 12:10. You may begin calling to schedule your seven times of playground times with Mrs. Rasmusen beginning on Monday, August 25th. Please remember that you also have the choice of giving us a donation of $50 rather than volunteering, however, we prefer volunteers.

Used Uniform Sale
We will be having a used uniform sale during conferences. If you have uniforms that you would like to donate to St. Anne’s School or sell please drop them off at school before Tuesday, August 25. If you have uniforms that you would like to sell, please pin an envelope with your name and amount on the uniform. Any used uniforms that are not sold need to be picked up after the picnic or they will become the property of St. Anne’s. Thank you.

New uniforms may be purchased through Donalds or Lands End. Remember to use Scrip!

Mrs. Bruss
Mrs. Bruss will again be offering piano lessons to students or adults at St. Anne’s School during the school day for a fee. She does have some openings please call 507-228-8685 if interested. She will also be at our Back to School Picnic.

Grade 5 Environmental Learning Trip

The 5th grade students will be participating in an environmental learning trip in the spring. They will be working at Pioneer Power on August 28 thru August 30. They need help to fill out their shifts. If you can help, please give Pam Weiers a call, 665- 3522. They are working in the kitchen and will be serving food.

Patrons at Pioneer Power
The Patrons are also doing the clean up shift in the Pancake House at Pioneer Power from 11:00 to 1:00 on August 29 & 30th; if you can help, please give Kim Froelich a call, 665-3369 and earn Fairshare Hours. Thank you!

Fairshare Hours
There will be sign up sheets for committee work during the Back to School conference times. Please remember that each adult is asked to do a minimum of 8 hours of work for St. Anne’s School or pay the equivalent of $25/hr. We prefer volunteer hours.

Marketing Signs
Please remember to post your marketing sign for St. Anne’s. If you don’t have one, stop in and we’ll be happy to give you one.
